Dallas Cowboys Flashback Week 7: Seven Memorable Games Against the New York Giants

The first meeting between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants was December 4th, 1960. This game ended as a 31-31 tie and was one of 107 meetings between these two teams. Despite a slow start in the rivalry for the Dallas Cowboys they have had a lot of success after the early 1960's. Dallas leads the series 62-43-2 with the largest victory of 52-7 in 1966. With the win in week one of the 2015 season, Dallas current win streak over the Giants is 5 wins.

1.Week 4, 1971- This was the first Monday night football game played between these two teams. It was also the last NFL football game played at the Cotton Bowl. The Dallas Cowboys took away this game with …show more content…

The Giants took out starter Danny White from the game and second man-up Gary Hogeboom. That left third-string Steve Pelluer to get the call in a game with the NFC East title in reach of both teams. Pelluer hit backup Karl Powe for a 28 yard third down completion in the clutch situation to keep the Cowboys hopes alive. Dallas went on to win 28-21.

3.Week 18, 1993- This game can be arguably considered one of the best for the Dallas Cowboys in the series. This game is very well known as the separated shoulder game. Despite his shoulder injury sustained in the first half, Emmitt Smith rushed for 168 yards including a 41 yards on the game-winning overtime drive; 16-13 Dallas. The victory clinched the NFC East title and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

4.Week 2, 2003- Bill Parcels (former Giants coach before coming to Dallas) visited the Meadowlands for the first time as the Dallas Cowboys head coach, and his team left with a tight 35-32 win. Dallas lead the first three quarters 29-14; however, they found themselves down in the 4th quarter with 11 seconds to play. Giants punted the ball to the Cowboys, but the kick went out of bounds and gave Dallas the ball at their own 40.
