Who Is To Blame? In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, Judge Danforth was the cause of the Salem Witch Trials. He was about 60, He came to Salem to judge the witchcraft, he also from Boston, and he judge the witch trials with three other People. Miller demonstrated that it was Danforth’s Flaws of Stubbornness, Quick-tempered, and Pride that led him to be most responsible for the tragedy of the witch-hunt in Salem.
One of Danforth’s flaws is stubbornness. Then let him submit his evidence in proper affidavit. That Giles is trying to ask Danforth to get his wife out of jail because the girls are lying. But Danforth isn’t thrilled on what Giles is asking him to do. So he’s tells him that the story you’re telling do you really think that the people of the court would believe you. This is a court of law, Mister. I’ll have no effrontery here! (Miller 103). That he wasn’t going to take any disrespect from anyone. So he made his self-clear to everyone in the court.
Third one of Danforth’s flaws is pride. Then I am sure they may have nothing to fear. Mr. Cheever, have warrants drawn for all of these arrest for examination. Now, Mister, what other information do you have for us? (Miller 98). His saying that he doesn’t fear anybody in the town and could care less. He also trying to pull more information from the Mister. Mr. Hale, you surely do not doubt my justice. (Miller 104). He’s making sure that Mr. Hale isn’t trying to question his decision on what he’s is doing. Or questing him in any way
