The Only Thing to Fear The character I most admire in the book “The Only thing to Fear” is Zara. The first reason is for her bravery. The second reason she is admired is because of her persistence to keep doing what she thinks is right and what needs to be done. The final reason is that she is nice even though everything else in her life is going completely wrong.
Her book describes the hardship and struggle she faced growing up in Little Rock and what it was like to be hurt and abused all throughout high school.
She was often abused by Mr. Flint when she didn't obey him or was honest to him. Elva Trevino Heart is a successful individual and author behind the Barefoot Heart memoir. Elva describes her life growing up from a young, poor, migrant child to a successful business woman along with all the struggles in-between. Elva encountered many individuals during her childhood that contributed to her ability to identify herself both positively and negatively. Society was stacked heavily against the success of the Mexican American; making life difficult for such an individual to see clearly into how one should act. For Elva, in her early years, it looked like she was predestined to a life of hardship, a stereotypical predictable life of a migrant Mexican American worker.

Lust for Disgust There is not a minute in the day where a news broadcast is not being televised. For twenty-four hours, the same repetitive and monotonous information is delivered by different news anchors. Even though they report nothing new, Americans will still watch for hours upon hours. The large majority of these television broadcasts deliver stressful and generally upsetting news, but in no way, is this a deterrent to the viewer.
Maggie in Alice Walker’s short story “Everyday Use” plays the role of being the nervous and ugly sister of the story, however she is the child with the good heart. Maggie was nervous ashamed of her scars “Maggie was nervous… she will stand hopelessly in corners, homely ashamed of the burn scars down her arms and legs”. Living in a house with a pretty sister and being the ugly sister with scars could be the reason why she picked up on a timid personality, being ‘ashamed’ of her own skin shaping her in a way that she degraded herself from everybody else. Maggie was not this way before the fire, her mother stated, as it is quoted that she had adopted to a certain walk ever since the fire.

Natasha Trethewey is known for intertwining both the past and the future of the African American experience and turning it into a history lesson for the world to read and experience. Natasha Trethewey is a mixed race woman with an African American mother and a Caucasian father. She was born in 1966 in Gulfport, Mississippi (Mililichap, 1).
She said that prior to this documentary being filmed that she used to weight 50 lbs. less than she currently does. When I was watching, her I was trying to imagine what she could have possibly looked like 50lbs lighter because she was still extremely skinny. She discussed the hard times that she had while training to be a ballerina and how she now suffered from lifelong consequences of starving herself and avoiding foods that contained calcium which as now led her to get tested for Osteoporosis. What is the saddest part of an ED for me to grasp is that a young girl may be able to overcome an ED but can potentially suffer the lifelong effects of what she did to her body years prior.
The mother then stated, "Cut a bit off thy heel; when thou art Queen thou wilt have no more need to go on foot." The Perrault version was a more bloodless version. When the daughters began to try on the shoe in Perrault’s version they realized it didn’t fit either of them and
