The service user I chose to assess is a 17-year-old Hispanic female whose modified name is Tiana Santos. I provided therapeutic casework services to Tiana for a year in my previous role as a Therapeutic Caseworker at the Children’s Village, a foster care agency. Tiana was placed in foster care after been removed from her mother’s care due to emotional and physical abuse. Tiana’s father abandoned her mother and her youngest sibling when she was 5 years old. Tiana’s memories about her father were very limited due to her young age.
Shirley Cole (Family Court Counselor) prepared a report to the court tin May 2007 which included referring Rebecca for an addiction assessment. Rebecca provided me with a copy of a letter dated May 2007 to Shirley Cole from Addiction Services stating Rebecca completed an addiction assessment and was low Probability of a Substance Abuse Disorder. Shirley Cole stated in the conclusion of this report that her “clinical assessment is that Rebecca is a very capable, responsible, and mature young woman.” She states “Rebecca has demonstrated tremendous resiliency in spite of numerous personal and practical obstacles.” Shirley Cole continues to state that there was “no indication from collateral contacts with Child Protection, Police Services, the children’s Guidance Counselor or other professionals in Health Services, nor from Rebecca presentation across several contacts that there was any substance to the numerous allegations, John, her former partner, has made against her as a person or a parent.”

In David’s case there was no background investigation performed. Studies show child abuse is more prevalent in low income households. This was the case for David’s parents. Darlene grew up in a blue-collar home with a family of six. Her biological father abandoned the family when she was five and her mother remarried to an alcoholic who was verbally abusive and extremely strict.
When Galen wasn’t beating and molesting her, “Deborah pretended he was her father, and she felt like a regular little girl” (Skloot, 114, 2010). There is clear child abuse trauma that this family has yet to recover from. They may need to engage in counselling services to determine which type of treatment is best for them. The family will also need health care/ insurance to take care of and be able to afford the many health concerns that exist.
The Story of Maci Kean When you think of people in a kid’s life, you probably imagine two parents, siblings, friends, and teachers. What you don’t typically think is a social worker, a judge, foster homes and a dead mother and father. This became the case for the then 15-year Maci Kean, as well as over 100,000 kids in the United States. When Maci was just a toddler, she became deaf due to a high fever and her father passed away when she was just two due to drug abuse. When she was around the age of 13 her mother passed away as well due to a drug overdose after getting out of jail.
Their children, Lori, Jeannette, Brian, and Maureen, did not grow up in a stable or typical environment. Rex and Rosemary’s unorthodox parenting style and the negligence of their basic needs developed resilience,
Casey Anthony was one of the only things people could talk about in 2008. Casey Anthony blew the news up about the killing of her daughter, the case lasted for about three years before the court finally reached a non- guilty verdict. The media and people all around America continued to speculate on reasons why they thought the verdict should have been guilty. After examining the case, two theories connect to the case. Casey Anthony has allowed me to further explore and examine all the theories so that I could explain the reasoning behind Anthony’s actions.

Throughout our education careers, we should have learned the importance of both sides of the Constitution debate. However, many have only seen the winning side (Federalist) then the opposing side (Anti-federalist's). The main arguments that arose during the debate concerning the United States Constitution was that the Anti-federalist believed the constitution threatened liberties, failed to protect individuals rights, threatened the sovereignty of the states, and gave to much power to the federal government. Most of the individuals on the opposing side was farmers and workers, which was mainly against anything dealing with a strong national government. They believed that the Bill of Rights would prevent individuals rights from being taken.
Although the Diane Downs case involved a murder many mothers have chosen their romantic interest over their children. Many women who choose to neglect their children for men usually live in poor conditions such as when a single mother can’t provide for her family she will find a man who can take care of business within the household, usually when single mothers find men to take care of their families the men tend to be abusive and sometimes sexual to children. A mother’s neglect and unwilling to put the needs of her children before her own can turn into a vicious cycle of abuse and substance abuse to forget what the last family line did to them in the past. Male and female children handle neglect and violence in different ways, female children
Robert Mugabe, once a beloved freedom fighter that was to bring liberty and independence to an entire nation and its people. Now, a tyrant and a dictator who has clung to power for more than 30 years and is still showing no sign of letting go. He has ruled the country with an iron fist and anyone who has dared oppose him has been imprisoned, tortured or killed. It is estimated that Mugabe has stolen approximately 10 billion US Dollars from the people of Zimbabwe, most of it coming from the rich diamonds deposits possessed by the country. Zimbabwe, once a wealthy and rich country with a promising future, has been laid to waste by one single man.
The short documentary “Child of Rage” presents an example of how experiencing abuse as a child can shape the child later in life and how some children can recover. The intrafamilial abuse that Beth experienced as a one year old affected her behavior later in her childhood when she was adopted. Beth was also able to recover from some of the effects of the child abuse she experienced once she was separated from her adoptive family and taken to a special home. Beth experienced intrafamilial abuse at the hands of her biological father after her mother passed away when she was one.
Their parents would always drink alcohol until it comes to a point that they are disregarding and neglecting their children. “Cheryl and I always woke up before our parents, so I would tend to Cheryl’s needs” (3). Both April and Cheryl would hear their parents yelling, fighting, knocking things over, and bumping into walls whenever they drink alcohol. They would also come to see their mother kissing someone else whilst their dad sleeping on the floor. Eventually, due to this family behavior, the Children’s Aid would come and intervene and take April and Cheryl away from their home.
