Dante Alighieri was philosopher, writer and poet who fortified his will on scripting his opinions towards all aspects of life, including faith, legislation and written works. He was mostly known for his great work, the Divine Comedy, where he portrays Dante’s voyage of self-discovery from Inferno to Purgatorio to Paradiso, or simply put hell, purgatory and heaven. During the first two portions of this expedition, Dante is guided by non other than the classical poet who was greatly admired by both Alighieri and his character Dante, Virgil. In this ageless tail, Virgil as a character, like most others, has many roles to play and also numerous significances to the story. It is made apparent sense their first meeting of this admiration, example being, “may my long years of study, and that deep love that made me search your verses, help me now” (Canto I, 82). Not only has he admitted of prominently following Virgil’s work, but also it could only be presumed that this saga in itself was greatly impacted by Virgil’s previous work, and this is of coarse excluding the obvious fact that Virgil himself is an actual character in this tale. An evident detail within many of the cantos is how Dante denotes Virgil as his author, asserting that Dante wishes to resume Virgil’s esteemed literature to the point where he would imitate his form of writing. He clearly states his pride in continuing his work when he said “you alone the one from whom I took the noble style that was to bring me honor”(Canto 1, 87). Based on the last portion of the quite where he implied his honor, it is also considerable that Dante selected Virgil to be his inspiriting beacon of support, to guide and advise because he sensed his scholarly texts to be equaled to Virgil’s
