One difference between the two pieces of literature is Dante’s Inferno presents the story as in first person point of view and A Christmas Carol presented as third person point of view. As Dante’s Inferno is presented in first person, it gives the reader a better understanding of what Dante goes through during his time in Hell. In Dante’s Inferno you can imagine what Dante sees and at some points how frightened he became seeing the different parts in Hell. In a Christmas Carol, the story is presented in third person. This story tells a tale of a man that is greedy for money and does not care about anyone else but himself. In a Christmas Carol you can imagine the events, but since Ebenezer Scrooge is not telling the tale, it is really not as visual as in Dante’s experience in Hell. Another difference in these two pieces of literature is speaking of the sins many people commited and only speaking of a sin of a single person. In Dante’s Inferno, as Dante and Virgil walk through the levels of Hell they approach many levels of different sins that people committed during their lifetime. For example, Dante and Virgil walk through circles that people are punished for greed, violence and fraud. In A Christmas Carol, the tale only speaks of Ebenezer Scrooge’s sin which he only cares about his money he makes. Dante’s Inferno and A Christmas
