Confucianism is a religion that concentrates on Chinese thought in terms of nature and the principle of man. Their primary goal is to achieve a good society based on good government and harmonious human relations, which are achieved by ruling by virtue and moral example rather than punishment or force. Ren refers to a quality of fatherly benevolence exhibited by rulers towards their subjects, and these qualities are an ethical ideal to guide government, conduct and relationships. During the last eight hundred years, Neo-Confucianism became a religious belief that concentrated on Chinese thought with the major topics of interest being the nature and principle of man and things, which then become the botheration of material objects and force. This is also known as passive and active cosmic elements, or yin and yang. Similarly, these complications did not include substance and function, the unity of man and nature, nor being and nonbeing. Confucius turned it into the strongest driving force in Chinese Philosophy (Chan, p 71), and he did so by believing that man can make the way great, and not that the way can make man great. Confucius focused solely on man, not spiritual being or even life after death, instead his elementary goal was to achieve an acceptable society based on a good government and peaceful human relations. He campaigned for a government that ruled by virtue and moral example rather than by punishment or force (Chan, p 71), while defining goodness as righteousness as opposed to profit.
