Belleville Illinois, Teacher and coach Robert Flake who is from Freeburg Illinois, has been found dead at Belleville West High School. A custodian found Robert Flake laying on the ground in the performance arts center with stab wounds all over his body. Robert Flake 35 years old, 5”10, and 270 pounds, was taken to Memorial Hospital located at 4500 Memorial Dr, Belleville, IL 62226. Robert Flake was reported dead Monday night October 3rd, time was not given. Robert Flake died of his stab wounds.
Lonnie Franklin Jr., also known as The “Grim Sleeper,” is a convicted serial killer and is responsible for ten murders and one attempted murder between 1985 and 2007. The killer was given the name “Grim Sleeper,” for his 14-year break from his killings from 1988 to 2002. The killings took place in south Los Angeles, California, where Franklin was born on August 30, 1952. His earliest crime was in 1974, when Franklin was in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany.
Serial Killer or Pathological Liar or Both? The Atlanta Child Murders was a gruesome time for the black community and families of Fulton County in Atlanta, Georgia. Wayne Williams was sentenced to two consecutive life terms on February 27, 1982 for the murder of Nathaniel Cater and Jimmy Ray Payne. Out of the 28-30 victims only two victims were linked with Williams, Nathaniel Cater, a convicted felon, and Jimmy Ray Payne, an ex-convict.
Dubbed the Valley Intruder or Night Stalker, Ricardo Leyva Munoz Ramirez famously known as Richard Ramirez, struck fear through the bones of many during his serial killing spree in the mid-eighties. Ramirez killed at least fourteen people in his spree while raping and torturing many more. His criminal beginnings turned to violence in June of 1984 with his first known slaying of 79-year-old Jennie Vincow. Vincow was sexually assaulted, stabbed and ultimately killed in her home. Authorities had not yet caught Ramirez after this brutal homicide, therefore he was free to continue his spree on countless more helpless victims.
Although most of my involvement has centered around politics, where I have been an active volunteer in the current election cycle, my service also extends to the homeless community in the Quad Cities. After recognizing the extent of homelessness in Davenport, my friend decided to start a nonprofit 5K to benefit a local shelter and I immediately joined in the venture. It is widespread.
It is hard to imagine life as a homeless family. I hope that I’ll never have to move my family from shelter to shelter as some families must do every day. According to the essay “Homeless” by Anna Quindlen, we should take more time in our lives to see the pain that homelessness creates. I agree with Anna Quindlen’s assertion that a home is everything. A home can provide certainty.
As time goes on, the rate of homelessness rises as the population rises. Homelessness then was mostly caused by a family’s history of being homeless, drug abuse, mental disorders, and tyrannical leaders forcing his people into poverty. In modern times, several organizations are now trying to end homelessness by building cheaper housing projects more affordable to the poor and homeless shelters; these projects usually cost a fair amount of money.
In his seminal article in the New Yorker recounting a story of a homeless alcoholic man, Gladwell (2006) observed that homelessness costs the taxpayers considerably and focus ought to be given to housing provision and supportive care. According to Gladwell (2006),

New York City is seen as a beautiful place to visit but the reality is there’s an ugly side to the city and it’s known as homelessness. In New York it is so common to see a homeless person in the train station or on a train and on the streets sleeping. This problem has been increasing ever since the Great Depression and we need to do something to decrease the number of this population and put a full stop to it. The majority of the New Yorkers just walk past them and instead of giving them left overs they decide to throw out the food and keep moving. Not only are these people suffering due to hunger, extremely poor hygiene and inhumane living conditions but they are also victims of assault and discrimination.

Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.
