For a very long time Dark Age of Camelot was the best MMORPG game I had ever played. I logged hundreds of hours on that game and I never quite made it to level 50. It was a social, but very competitive game. Friends would call each other up and meet online and then there were also hundreds of players who would also log on to take part in epic battles. DAoC preceded WoW, however I think (and some people may disagree) that WoW and other MMORPG games that followed were not nearly as hard as DAoC. Yes, it had its flaws and it was frustrating at times but DAoC was tough and unforgiving. You had a role that you played and you had to be very good at playing otherwise you would be roadkill. What is Dark Age of Camelot? Dark Age of Camelot is a 3D, medieval fantasy MMORPG that was first released by Mythic Entertainment on October 10, 2001. This game is based on the Arthurian legend but it also combines Norse and Celtic folklore and mythology. This game has both Player vs Environment(PvE) and Realm vs Realm (RvR) combat. Dark Age of Camelot takes place after King Arthur's death. Albion, the land where Camelot lies is in danger from other realms and its borders are constantly attacked by raiding Celtic and Norse marauders. The Celts come from Hibernia, a magical land inhabited by nature worshipping humans and Otherworld elvish creatures that live in fantastic cities under the hill. These two races have come together to form a powerful alliance of nature worship, magic and arms. Hibernia isn't just home to magical elves and nature loving Celts, it is also home to giant Firblog who can combine magic, nature and arms in battle. And then there is the small but nimble Lurikeen who are dexterous fighters with spellcasting
