I believe that the dark forces in this village were people who had actually believed in this crazy superstition stuff. These dark forces could be anywhere. They could be your neighbor, slaves, servants and even good friends. These dark forces could include dancing in the woods, not going to church, or not baptizing your baby like John Proctor. The people in the community were the dark forces. They are the ones that wanted to believe this and wanted to make it true. I believe that this should have never gotten this far. There should have never been as many as twenty deaths and two hundred people accused of something that could never be proven true. Innocent people have died for nothing but others beliefs. Another example is when a young man was building a fire and while he was laying stuff in the fire for it to burn a farmer hollered at him from a far distance. When the farmer replied while the young man was building the fire, the fire burst into flames and almost scorched his face. The young man then gave him a scared and terrifying look. These people, these dark forces and beliefs were killing and severely punishing innocent people. The more people accused and punished led to more people believing in this idea. The people who did not believe in this still had to be careful about how they go about their own business now because you can get accused for the smallest and most stupid things like John Proctor, Who was completely innocent of witchcraft and just wanted his wife proven innocent. John Proctor was accused because of the dark forces. He was accused because he was forcing his servant to speak the truth. These dark forces has gotten Giles Corey found guilty in the court.
