The chosen character is Darry. This character’s perspective on life is that you must work for what you will get, and you have to appreciate what you do have because nothing should be just given to you. This is known because in the story The Outsiders the main character Pony said in page 2, “...Darrel, who we call Darry, works too long and hard to be interested in a story or drawing a picture, so I’m not like them. … But then, Darry’s gone through a lot in his twenty years, grown up too fast.” These two pieces of evidence show how Darry worked for what he has and continues to work for it. Darry is a hard worker and keeps working hard to maintain or keep what he does have; Darry has never given up on his family. This shows Darry’s main perspective on life, to appreciate what you have and work for what you want because he is constantly working for his loved ones and himself by improving all of their lives. This is also known because in the story The Outsiders the author says this in Pony’s perspective about Darry on page 4, “It drives my brother Darry nuts when I do stuff like that, ‘cause I’m supposed to be smart; I make good grades and have a high IQ and everything, but I don’t use my head.” This shows Darry as a character and his perspective on life because Pony does have brains and is smart, but he doesn 't use what he has, and doesn’t appreciate it either. This goes against Darry’s main perspective on life, to appreciate what you have and by Pony having a high level of intelligence and not using it, is a waste- according to Darry’s standards. This proves how he gets upset when somebody doesn’t follow his perspective on life. This shows as well he wants his brothers to do as he did and work to get what they want to have, or they should be able to
