Dave Matthews Band is a quintessential example of this. Their fans are some of the most devoted ones out there and have remained faithful to the band throughout their twenty-five year career with more years to come. Originally from the small, college town of Charlottesville, Virginia, the band has maintained their unique, original sound throughout the evolution of the band as they grew in popularity. My parents first introduced me to his music at a young age and I have been hooked since. To me, it’s the band’s dedication to their passion which has captivated me. They have been willing to put in endless amount of hours into writing song lyrics that fully convey the message the band is attempting to share. They bring their emotions through life within their songs, a very attractive quality for any band. Furthermore, the raw talent that is present from this group is undeniable. In every concert, they allot time simply just to improvise. This exemplifies pure, raw talent for most groups plan out every second before they step foot on stage. I believe that this is another reason that this band was able to influence so many musicians throughout their career. The sense of “realness” DMB generates to their fans is one that many musicians have attempted to emulate over the years. Yet by no means is this an easy task but due to the originality of DMB, it was a task they were able to achieve. Out of the many admirable qualities which this band possesses, it is their uniqueness more than anything that has led to their overwhelming influence in the music industry. It is their uniqueness that has attracted thousands of the most loyal, devoted fans out there and has gained them the respect of bands and artists from all spectrums of music.
