David Robert Jones AKA David Bowie is a singer. Though there are many people in this generation who claim they have not heard of David Bowie, many of them probably have heard his music and did not realize it. David Bowie’s first major hit was “Space Oddity” in 1969, which arguably started his career. Bowie’s most well-known persona is “Ziggy Stardust”; this persona skyrocketed his career even further. During the 80s he continues music, while also balancing an acting career. The 90s is when his stardom began to die down, and that’s why many do not know who he is anymore. I have so many favorite musical artists, but David Bowie is one of the top ones. There are many different reasons why he is my favorite. This sub-genre mixed theatricality and rock all at the same time. His music seemed to be for the outcasts of the world then, and even today. Another thing that shows he is my favorite is just how much he pushed boundaries. He openly said he was gay, and had gender bending personas on stage. The people who felt as though they had no one to look up to because they were ashamed of how they felt, finally had someone that stood up for them. At the time when he started, it was taboo for men to wear those sorts of clothes, or to wear makeup, especially as dramatic as he did. His lyrics could come off as non-sense, but to some the lyrics may describe their exact feelings. I have been listening to David Bowie a lot more as of recently because of this huge transition in my life. It is hard and I feel alone, and his music helps me cope with
