Early Life: David Ray was raised by his grandfather but still visited and saw his father. David was physically abused by his father as a child. In school he was teased and bullied because he was socially awkward around others but mostly girls. Span of killings : 1950’s- March 22,1999 Incident: David Parker Ray also known as the “Toy-Box Killer” sexually tortured and presumably killed in victims in a $100,000 homemade torture chamber called his"toy-box" that he built out of a old mobile home and was equipped with to what he referred to as his "friends". Whips, chains, pulleys, straps, leg spreader bars, surgical blades, and saws. It is thought he terrorized many women with the tools for many of years and had help with multiple accomplices. Inside the "toy-box" were numerous toys, torture implements, syringes, and also detailed diagrams showing different methods and techniques for inflicting pain on his victims. There were also homemade electrical generating the devices that was used for torture. A mirror was mounted on the ceiling above the gynecologist table he used to strap victims to. Cynthia Vigil, Angelica Montano, & Kelly Garrett. Trial one was a mistrial and a retrial. Ray agreed to a plea bargain and under the terms of which he was sentenced to 224 years in prison. His accomplice, Glenda Jean "Jesse" Ray ( His daughter) was also tried and was sentenced to 9 years in prison. His other accomplice, Dennis Roy Yancy, who was convicted of strangulation murder of Marie Parker received 36 years in prison. Ray was transported to Lea County Correctional Facility on May 28, 2002 to be questioned by state policed, but died of a heart attack before the interrogation took place.
