Fast food is the cheapest and easiest source of food to access in America. It’s quick to get and tastes very good. Adolescents consume fast food on a regular basis, due to the wide accessibility and affordability of the food. While fast food is cheap, there are limited nutrients and subsistence in the food. Chemicals and carcinogens are commonly found in the ingredients used to produce Fast Food. Zinczenko explains that in America today, the easiest food option to acquire is Fast food, as it is cheap and located virtually everywhere across the country. There are more fast food options than healthy foods. Healthy food is also more expensive, and low-income households can’t afford such expensive meal options. While fast food is more affordable to purchase, the health effects it has on the human body are detrimental. Obesity rates and diabetes seen in children have been on the rise since fast food companies have taken over the American adolescent diet. The downturn in American health is directly correlated with the growth of fast food consumption. This is because fast food is made poorly, and the Food and Drug Administration does not have a lot of regulations on what fast food companies can put into the food that they are serving the American population. While individuals should be held responsible for how their health turns out if they continuously eat sugary and fatty foods, I feel as though it is not the responsibility of the adolescents who consume fast food as they are uneducated on the health risks that this food contains. Fast food is made poorly and the companies don't make it very public how their food can affect consumers' health. There are so many preservatives and pathogens that are in fast food ingredients. This is used for preservation for extended periods of time, as well as to add extra salt and sugar to increase a consumer's desire to consume the food again. This is a mischievous tactic to cause a fast food addiction, and sugar and salt are very addictive and make individuals feel unfulfilled, causing them to consume more than necessary. Overeating can cause many health issues such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and many more. If an adolescent to be consuming toxins and overeat when at a fast food restaurant, their health can become at risk. While fast food is the easiest available food option, it should be the last choice in a meal as there is no real subsistence in the food that would be
