The Betrayal of a Lover Dawson Matthews was not aware on that New Year’s Day that some of the most momentous events in a man’s life often occur in the most ordinary of ways. -Henry Denker

How can I show you the holes she burned in my heart? I can’t. I wish I could plainly rip my heart out of my chest and show it to you. Humanly, I can’t. Which is why I’m sharing my utterly painful, yet in a way traditional, story with you.
We can start from the beginning.

East Shore High School was your ordinary, drama-filled high school. Being located on the East Coast of Maine, the people were just as uncharitable as the weather during the winter. Everyone that attended were quidnuncs. They all wanted to know the latest gossip, rumor, or secret. …show more content…

The girls talked shit about other girls, and most of the guys were only interested in one thing (I’m sure you know what one thing I’m talking about). Everyone acts like they care, or acts as they’re trustworthy, it’s all a lie. I’d been going to school there my whole life, and I’d never found a person that was genuinely sympathetic. Holiday break at East Shore High School was always party central. Many of my “friends” (as I said before, they really weren’t genuine friends) had parents that went on their yearly travel during break. Mostly just to escape from the freezing weather we always had during winter.
Rosalie was always loved by everyone, who couldn’t love a spontaneous, beautiful, intelligent woman? Being as amazing as she was, she and I were always invited to all the parties.
