Alexander the Great is one of the most famous people in history we know. He was born in 356 BCE in a kingdom on the edge of northern Greece called Macedonia. Alexander inherited his fathers kingdom at the age of 20, when his father Philip was assassinated in 336 BCE. His goal was to conquer Persia but that was not enough for him. He then conquered eastward into the lands no Greek had ever seen. Many people have question if Alexander the Great was ever great. In my opinion he was great because he conquered a lot during his life, he was very determined and had brilliant ideas. He was brave and dauntless and generous to his followers. (Document F) The King shows fairness to his followers, when he throws the helmet of water. (Document D) Alexander was trying to show them they are all in this together. The King was a great leader because he showed fairness and showed sympathy. Alexander the Great had many brilliant ideas to conquer a lot of land. Alexander was going into a battle, when he realizes Porus was encamped with his elephants. He made a plan on the spot to move his troops to different directions. This caused Porus to be all puzzled. Alexander then sent out his troops at night to attack.(Document B). This caused him to gain more land. Alexander had to strategize many times and came up with clever ideas. In conclusion Alexander was a great leader. He loved his people and his main goal was to conquer Persia. To do that he had to conquer the rest of the land. The King didn't want to kill the innocent people intentionally. He did it because they resisted to the idea of change. Alexander accomplished a lot in the short life span he had. He was a great leader who was very determined in what he was doing.
