World War 1 Causes There were lots of countries in Europe whose militaries were getting bigger and stronger. There were many people who were proud of their country and wanted to protect it. Also bigger countries wanted more so they tried to take from smaller and less strong countries. Next, countries worked together to be stronger but if one country had a problem with another then all the other countries would get involved. The main causes of World War I were strengthening of the military, loyalty to a country, era of conquering, and partnerships between countries. In World War 1, strong European countries were trying to split up China. In document 1, a political cartoon is showing us how the European countries are taking over China. This was all being done without the approval of China and all of China's people and their Emperor were very mad. Next, in document 5 it talks about how Austria-Hungary did nothing to repress the movements of illegal activities against the monarchy and the press is not being restrained. In World War 1 this was very common and that is how the war grew to be so big. It started with two countries but then all their alliances got involved so the war grew a lot bigger. In document 6 it says the assassination and ultimatum made conflict between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. This created distrust and led the conflict to be much larger than it needed to be. Also in document 7 there is a map that shows the different alliances. It shows the triple alliance which consists of Italy, Germany and Austria-Hungary. It also shows the Triple Entente which consists of Great Britain, Belgium and
