To some people religion is their entire way of life while to others it is just a side thought. But to almost everyone religion affects their lives everyday in some way, whether it just be in the back of a mind. Religion affects the lives of its followers by telling them the rights and wrongs, giving them someone to follow, and explaining why things happen to allow its followers to gain access to some variation of heaven. In order for Christians and Jews to please God, they need to not kill, steal, or commit adultery among other things (Doc 1). Muslims are told “Ours is the life of this world, ours thus life to come”(Doc 2). Telling the followers that they do have a reason to follow God and that their God is the life of the world and assures them safety among other things. Jesus taught many things including that heaven is a great reward for his people and that everybody fits in somewhere (Doc 9). Some people did feel like they did have no place in society and Jesus gave them somewhere to go and be happy. Even God himself assured his people that they would have a place to stay and be in the love of God (Doc 10). God made it destiny for his people to have their own land to rule and be safe, to be assured of them. The great Confucius wrote that a good leader had to “nourish the people” and govern with righteous (Doc 4). A canon text from ancient China explains the origin of suffering called Samudaya (Doc 6). The canon text explains why suffering exits in the world and why it happens in the world, soothing the curious mind of the followers. Another ancient Chinese text explains to us that encouraging good deeds and rewarding them, then punishing the not so nice ones leads to the creation of a good society structure (Doc 5). The text tells us that in order for society to be what it is, there has to be a reason for people to stay in order, whether it be with religion or with rewarding the people that do good and punishing the people that do bad.
