"Dead people voting is a type of election fraud that occurs when the name of a deceased person remains on a state's official list of registered voters and a living person fraudulently casts a ballot in that name" (Ballotpedia.org). This reminds me of the movie Black Sheep with Chris Farley where zombie voters were used to win a governor election in the state of Washington. Even though this movie was fiction, there have been real accounts of this happening in smaller state elections and possibly presidential elections. One way to prevent this is to compare each list of registered voters to the Social Security Administration's "Death Master File" which sounds extremely expensive and time consuming. Rational and tactical non-voters are people who chose for various reasons not to vote; either because they don't have any interest in politics, they don't like the nominee of their party, or they don't feel like their voice counts.
The effects they have on our political process is important, but I don't think ultimately deal breakers. I don't think there is any way for an election to be 100% accurate and honest. I always wondered why I was allowed to take time off work for Jury Duty but not for voting as each is a constitutional right. I also believe in making incentives for poll workers to increase poll locations, poll observers, and even shuttle services since districts are so small. Educating the public about voting is most important and there should be more nonpartisan organizations to help get people registered. Same day voting should be allowed along with early voting and absantee ballots. I disagree whole heartedly with current event/literacy tests and financial rewards as both have already been
