In the fantasy fiction novel, Dealing with Dragons by Patricia Wrede, it justified that a prince/knight named Therandil is not accordance with chivalrous actions because he does not execute the code of chivalry. Even though Therandil made honorable deeds, it is not compared what vile choices he had done. He is visualized as a noble knight, but he only cared about pride and fame, he is reckless and impetuous, and he is impolite and thoughtless.
First, Therandil is not heeding to the code of chivalry because he only cared about pride and fame. When Cimorene volunteered to be a dragon's princess, knights and princes are trying to extricate Cimorene, but Cimorene just told them to leave and when Therandil came he did not want to help Cimorene.

While Cimorene is hanging a sign, Woraug appeared and accuse her of escaping but Therandil came and a tragic act had occured. In the narrative, it says,” ‘Chaaarrge!’ shouted a familiar voice from the other side of the dragon.’Therandil!’...She stuck out a foot. ‘Ow!’ she said as Therandil fell over with a clatter…’But if you can’t walk-’ Therandil said, and paused…’You can’t stay here!’ Therandil protested, though Cimorene’s talk of when all the dragons come back had plainly made him nervous.” Therandil is very eager to liberate Cimorene from the dragons but that made Cimorene injured. Even though Therandil caused Cimorene to be wounded, that is not an excuse of not trying to extricate Cimorene. So far, Therandil is not verifying that he is a true knight. After Therandil was worried about Cimorene, he tried helping her but that did not go well, Therandil just made trouble. On page 116, it proclaims,” ’...Can I help?’ ‘As long as you don't break anything,’ Cimorene said…’I’ll be very careful,’ Therandil assured her…’Kazul said to leave the ones with lead stoppers alone,’ Cimorene said. ‘So put it back.’...’Drat!’ he said…”I should have known,’ Cimorene said in a resigned tone.” This meant that Therandil just created more complications by attempting to help Cimorene.
