Assessment of the Death of Azaria Chamberlain
Timeline
August 17, 1980
On Sunday 17 August Lindy Chamberlain put two of her children, 4-year-old Reagan and 10-week-old Azaria, to bed in their tent. At about 8 p.m., Azaria was heard crying out. Her mother went to the family tent that was pitched at the campsite near Uluru.
Initial Evidence to support the idea that the dingo took the baby.
1.When Sally Lowe, a nearby camper, went to check on Reagan, who was still sleeping, she subsequently found a pool of blood in the tent near where Azaria was sleeping.
2. Footprints and traces of the dingo could be seen inside the Chamberlains tent as well as around their campground.
3. When Lindy went to check on the kids she was only recorded being

Forensic Scientists also claimed that the cuts found on Azaria’s clothing could not have been made by a dingo, but rather, could only have been made by scissors.
Guilty Evidence
Guilty Evidence
One person had gone into the room where the tent was set up to simulate the campsite on the fateful night, which was accurate right down to the amount of light. That person could not see inside the tent, and called the others. They could not see in such dim light either. They concluded that Lindy must have lied when she told the court she could see inside the tent on that night. If she had lied about that, then she must have lied about everything. They went back upstairs and took a vote – all guilty.
(It never seems to have occurred to them that Lindy had been in the dark for several hours. They had come from a brightly lit room and corridor, and should have allowed their eyes to adjust and they would have been able to see as well as she had, as had the court and media had at the first inquest night view at the actual Ayers Rock campsite.)
External Factors
Many jurors had made up their mind before the trial had even

They couldn’t comprehend that a mother would kill her own child by stuffing her in a case then disposing of her in the wild.
When Lindy was found guilty and jailed, the majority of the public were enthralled with the fact that this murderer was getting punished for her terrible actions but didn’t think that it was enough justice for the barbaric act she performed.
Case Up-To-Date
A royal commission then found the Chamberlains not guilty on June 12, 2012 - 32 years after Azaria's disappearance.
On June 12, 2012 a death certificate was produced stating the cause of death was a dingo.
The Chamberlains are satisfied with the finalised birth certificate but many years of their lives can never be replaced for unjust imprisonment.

Personal View :)
I believe that Lindy was innocent from the start. If proper forensic tests were performed then the jury probably would of arrived at this decision as well.
The claims on which the accused Lindy of murder were outrageous. It is not physically/humanly possible to commit such a murder in such a short amount of time. So, unless Lindy is Superman's sister and just keeping it a secret, I cannot see how such a story was made
