Tupac Amaru Shakur was an American rapper and actor in the late 80’s and early 90’s. He was a very popular artist, selling over 75 million records worldwide. He was beloved by his fans and respected by music enthusiasts all around the globe. However, Tupac was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. His death came as a shock to all of his fans. An even more shocking fact from the case is that his killer was never found. Shirley Collier provided a lot of helpful information about both Tupac and his murder. First, she was asked about Tupac’s childhood and background. He grew up in the Bronx and his mother was a member of the Black Panther Party, a political protest group focused on protecting the rights of African-Americans through violent acts. However, he grew up poor and without a father. “His mother raised him and spoke very little about his father,”(Collier). Shakur’s mother was sent to jail on bombing charges when he was growing up. After her release in 1985, Tupac and his mother left the Bronx and he attended the Baltimore School for the Arts. Afterwards, Tupac and Frank were separated for a short period of time. When Frank caught up to him, Tupac was in a fist fight with Orlando Anderson who was linked to a Los Angeles South-Side Crips gang. The hotel security broke up the fight and Death Row Records returned to the Luxor, which was the hotel that they had picked to stay at. Putting the fight behind him, Tupac still wanted to go to the party at the 662 Club. He rode in Suge Knight’s BMW and gave Frank the keys to his girlfriend’s car to bring The Outlaws, his backup group, to the club. On the way to the club, shortly after 11 p.m., a white Cadillac pulled up next to Knight and Shakur. The shooter fired 14 shots into Knight’s car, four of which struck
