Capital punishment is considered an extreme punishment. Once a person has been sentenced to death and thus death penalty practiced, there is nothing that can be done to undo the punishment if the accused turns out to be innocent. Capital punishment violates the right to life which happens to be the most fundamental of all human rights. The right for not to be subjected to torture and other cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment are few example of human rights that have been violates as the sentence were not abolish. These rights will be violated because of the death penalty.. It violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person (UDHR, Article 13). This shows how vital a human right on right to life and capital punishment like this should be banned for good. Everyone has an inalienable human right to life, even those who commit murder; sentencing a person to death and executing them violates that right. The principles of “an eye for an eye” and blood vengeance are not consistent with a democratic state like Malaysia. Malaysia should abolish capital punishment to ensure human rights will not be violated. Furthermore, the death penalty can also affect human dignity. The death penalty also has the advantages. If the death penalty is carried out Bold and violent criminals will feel more afraid to commit crimes. In some countries in the Far East and South America, they have a severe punishment, including whipping, even for minor crimes.The death penalty would also make people more secure. People in some parts of the country we feel they cannot walk or step outside their homes for fear criminals. In other countries, however, you will rarely see the law was broken because the penalties are so strict. Another reason we should use this is to be an example to all criminals. Some criminals who have committed many violent crimes (robbery, rape, and murder) walking the streets like ordinary people because we are too lenient on them.
