Throughout my life, I have never truly been positive about what area of study I would like to pursue in college or which career path I would like to follow after graduating with a degree. I always figured that I would figure out what I want to do with my life given enough time. I also believed that somewhere along the way I would develop an interest that I was passionate about that could guide my decision about the future. I found the interest that I am passionate about by chance. At the end of my eighth-grade year I was in the process of selecting the first classes of my high school career, and I decided to sign up for a first-year marketing class. I am also highly organized and enjoy extensive planning. When I joined my high school’s DECA chapter at the beginning of my freshman year, I wanted to voice my opinion and be actively involved, but my shyness got in the way. When I competed in role plays my hands would shake, my voice would waver, and my face turned a bright shade of red. I realized that the only way I would be able to become a leader would be to practice my interview and public speaking skills, and DECA helped me achieve that. Through significant effort and learning, I was able to become a more confident and outgoing version of myself. Eventually, I felt comfortable enough with myself to apply to become a chapter officer. Becoming more involved in the organization through leadership allowed me to get involved in and lead projects and become more active in other organizations. Through the various community service projects that I been involved in with several extracurricular groups, I realized that I want to establish a career organizing programs to help those in
