As I began researching what topic I wanted to discuss for my Ted Talk, I stumbled upon the deception theory. I was intrigued by this theory because of how often we are deceived throughout our daily lives. I am a terrible liar myself so I thought this might teach me a few things about it. I thought that this ended up being a great choice for my Ted Talk. I was able to find out a lot of different things about deception. I think that since I had to present a Ted Talk to the class I learned a lot more than if I just had to type a research paper. I provided the audience with some information about some research information I was able to locate. I explained to the audience about a study done by Judee Burgoon about deception detecting and nonverbal cues (Spurgeon 2017. 4:18-4:50). This made my talk more persuasive because I was using researching information to back up my claims. It showed the audience that these ideas have been researched and proven. When I talked about the acceptability of deception, I provided the audience with information about the acceptability in “big” lies vs. “little” lies and also between intergroup settings and interpersonal settings. I was able to find some very interesting and useful articles to use during my Ted Talks, even after having a hard time finding them. I was able to locate some Ted Talk online that were given on Deception Theory, which helped me get an idea about what and how to present this theory. During my Ted Talk, I feel that I had a great success in keeping my audience engaged throughout the whole talk. I was able to ask them questions about themselves to keep them entertained and most importantly, interested. I found success in having a good presentation with points that flowed together nicely. I did have a few minor issues during my Ted Talk presentation, however; all in all I felt it was a large
