Welles was handed a golden opportunity that was unheard of for that time, the ability to express his creativity freely and have total control of a film. Citizen Kane challenged the concept of traditional movie making. He innovated the less accepted methods of its era effectively, using concepts such as elaborate sound techniques, out of the norm narrative structure, the pioneering of ensemble acting to the big screen, and deep focus cinematography.
