One of those words that is commonly misinterpreted, especially in today's society. In today's society, we believe that happiness is reaching your final destination without any bumps in the road, or being rich and getting everything you want. This is simply not the case; happiness is a person’s satisfaction with life on a day-to-day basis regardless of circumstances. Happiness is being happy with your daily routine and getting up everyday excited to start your day. The most common leading cause for human beings to lose their sense of real happiness is the overuse of technology.
Not many achieve happiness in their lifetime. Either they do not live long enough to witness it or they are not prepared for what their happiness is. Happiness is very subjective. Each person’s version of happiness is different. This version of happiness is universal.
One study revealed that money was an essential need for happiness, but it was not what made the people happy. They established satisfaction in close relationships with loved ones, community work, fulfillment and pride from their work and accomplishments (Diener and Biswas-Diener 162). The highest life satisfaction was found in societies of wealthy nation while the unhappiest nations were the extremely poor ones. When it comes to materialism, it does not matter if someone is rich or poor, all that matters is that “your income is sufficient to your desire,” and that “differences in aspirations lead to very different amounts of happiness” (Diener and Biswas-Diener 170).
The Pursuit of Happiness Many people strive to be happy. However, only few succeed to achieve happiness because they have taken the wrong approach to obtain happiness. The truth is, it’s hard to be happy today especially with the present condition of the world. What exactly is happiness, and how can one be at this state?
As Shadyac explains, today many people are searching for happiness in all the wrong places. Some are searching for happiness by material objects, money, and approval from others. However these individuals are not aiming for something that will truly give them happiness. According to Aristotle, happiness is the “meaning and purpose of life, the whole aim, and end of human existence.”
The Websters Dictionary portrays or defines happiness as a state of content,satisfaction or euphoria. Happiness is something that cannot be forced or simulated and it is more that just a simple feeling or emotion. It is more than just a noun used in the vocabulary of the average third grade child. Happiness is an undescribable sentiment that anything can experience depending on that specific thing. It is natural and one of a kind.
First I will address the term happiness. I would like to argue that happiness is whatever you want it to be, either having good relations to others, having obscure measures of money or even being free, but I can not argue with the fact that happiness is controlled by chemical reactions in the brain that stimulate us into thinking we are happy. It is nothing more than simple biology.
Is it being rich and powerful? Is it fulfilling your goals? Or maybe is it being content with a small and uneventful life? Happiness is subjective and although it may seem easily defined, it is hard to know what one's happiness is. In the traditional and most common use of the word, happiness is the state of being happy, but what is happiness for one person might be something completely different to another.
Happiness has a broad meaning. One may consider it to be having money, love, or even just enjoying the little things in life. There is no real definition for happiness because it all depends on a person 's perspective of life. Happiness is more about the way you think and act rather than a material possession. It is not something that has a physical form, or that is worth something valuable, yet everybody seeks it.
Can Money Buy Happiness? In today’s materialistic world that we live in, the phrase that ‘can money buy happiness?’ is an often asked question. There is no right or wrong answer but only peoples opinions and people always think their opinions are right. Money is an easy way to gain happiness since in our daily lives we need money for food, shelter, and keeping ourselves healthy, which are necessities for having a happy life.
Happiness is a goal everyone is trying to reach. We learn we have to get success to be happy at a young age. When we we’re even our parents might be working two jobs trying to support the family money coming in but how do they really feel about having a lot of money and having no time extra to spend time with their children or just have free time. That’s why some people say homeless people could be happy also, but nobody understands completely. They do not have to worry about paying bills or taxes like the rest of us they still have troubles but with too much money it could be overwhelming.

For some people, happiness is to enjoy their work, social life, but for other it may be money or family. Happiness is an experience in which we can understand more and learn appreciation. Sometimes, happiness is difficult for many to achieve just because of we can not enjoy the moment that we have.
Happiness Happiness is not feeling good all the time, having more money and affording everything you want, not a final destination. Then what actually is happiness? People have agonized over this question for ages, but now today science has begun to weigh in on the debate. Many people think that getting what you want is happiness, being more rich is happiness which helps you buy every branded cloth, phone, make-up, shoe, being mentally satisfied is happiness, but no there are things beyond these desires which actually sum up happiness.
How does someone know if they are truly happy? Much of society have come to associate happiness with the pursuits of personal pleasures or that which makes us “feels good”. When we feel good we display positive expression of emotions such as joy, laughter, kindness and fewer negative emotions such as anger, hate, and sadness. To some people our happiness is already determined through our genes. Some people seek happiness through money and material possessions.
There is a very popular cliches that money cannot bring us happiness, however, new research of Cambridge shows that people who spent more money on purchases that matched their personality are happier. Money problem is an age-old question, there are many various thoughts of their believes, many people believe that money is the star of crime and the fade of true feelings. However,researchers show that people who has higher incomes is happier than people have lower incomes. Because money expands peoples’ choices of their future, and money changes their lives’ qualities to be more modern to bring them happiness. Therefore, people should build their lives to make more and more money to find more choices and more joyful life.
