Here and there we hear people say the word family and talk about their family. Although family in the dictionary means “a group of individuals under one roof and usually under one head”, I strongly disagree. The real meaning of family to me is a close bond between a person or a group of people who help and stick with each other no matter the difficulties. In order to be a family, you don’t have to be related or live with each other. An example of a family in my life is my tennis team. My friends on the tennis team are my family because in the beginning of the season we weren’t the best of friends, but as the season went on we had a close connection and helped each other improve. There are so many great news I have to tell you! Yesterday was one of the best days I’ve had in awhile. If you can’t already tell by the way my family has been dressing and by the bright, colorful lights, it was Christmas! On the day before Christmas Eve, I was so excited about my family coming over and all the great food we were going to have. The following day, I welcomed and hugged all of my family members who walked in the door. That night we baked delicious cookies and washed it down with warm hot chocolate. One of our family traditions is to watch Christmas movies and open one present. As I looked at the tree, I noticed many colors of wrapping papers on presents. That night, I had a struggle of sleeping because I was filled with so much excitement. The next morning I was woken up by my siblings and we all went into the living room to open presents. That morning after opening our presents, we talked and enjoyed each other’s company because we didn’t get to see each other that often. This wasn’t a great day because of the presents, but the fact that my family spent quality time with each other was a great memory I will always
