Happiness What is happiness? We all know the answer, or do we? The Larousse dictionary gives three definitions of happiness, i.e. "good luck”, favorable circumstance", "State of complete satisfaction" and "joy, pleasures related to a circumstance”. The common point between these definitions is the association of happiness with the perception that an individual might have of himself in relation with an event that highlighted his life. Happiness has been a controversial topic for many years now. Some people believe it is a state of complete satisfaction, characterized by its stability and durability while, other believe that the concept of happiness is intimately linked to the desire. People usually draw happiness from different things. Generally, an intense joy is not happiness, and a fleeting pleasure neither. Happiness is a global state. No concrete evidence can be put forward. For some, wealth, beauty, and power are not happiness, while for others, driving a Ferrari or go on TV represent happiness. Love, friendship, pleasure surely are components of happiness. But these elements are deeply abstract. We really don't know what can lead us to our happiness. Many people don’t really know what would personally allow them to become happy. Some may think that certain things such as a money, or to successfully pass an exam will make them happy. Of course, but they can never know certainly that these items will make their happiness (current or future). The conception of happiness changes over time, depending on the events that mark the life of an individual. As an illustration, if a person believes at some point that a family can make his happiness, it will turn to other objectives (house, children, career).
