Giving birth to the most beautiful baby, hearing the words “You’re cancer free!”, the feeling of a diploma in one’s hands, that will promote endless job opportunities. Happiness is all of the aforementioned, as well as, so much more. Uncontainable joy, where bitter words never escape one’s lips, and when turbulences occur, it is to only enhance one’s future. I believe happiness is when an individual has reached euphoria through Maslow’s pyramid. Happiness cannot be brought, measured, worn, traveled to, nor is it tradable. Setting goals, for instance, graduating college to provide a better life for your daughter, not only gives one a purpose, but also a reason to triumph every obstacle in their path. Maslow claimed, “Every person is capable and has the desire to move up the hierarchy toward a level of self-actualization,” but different life situations effect when they will and if they will reach self-actualization. The daunting need to do better, to be of some importance within the world allows one to achieve not only happiness, but also purpose. Setting goals allows individuals, to experience accomplishment, which leads to happiness, which 100% of the surveyors agreed with. Having progress in life, a feeling of forward motion, can make people feel happy. Furthermore, 10% of surveyors commented that happiness comes from within, a person must be conscious of who they are and who they are not. Happiness is being content with the flaws and able to embrace every one of them. Another surveyor stated that being able to help others by volunteering, paying for a meal, helping an impoverished nation, donating to a cancer research institution are all ways that happiness can be shared with
