Modesty The proper definition of modesty is behavior, manner, or appearance intended to avoid impropriety or indecency. When saying the word modesty many people will picture a nun or old fashioned Pentecostal gals. Others, like Dhiemond, believe that mini skirts and a tank top is modest. I believe society has done a good job at letting us think that what pop stars wear on stage, like Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey, is sociably acceptable to wear on an everyday basis. To always look as best as I can, I stand in front of my full length mirror for three minutes and check skirt length, colors, and shirt cleavage. The key to wardrobe is to respect yourself, know your personality and show both in your taste in clothes that you wear. This is why I feel very strongly about first impressions. First impressions can determine what people may think of you by what you look like and what you're wearing at the moment. A few days ago a friend walked into school with a new hair style, but they followed it up with heavy make up and a bandana. If I had not met her before then I would think she was something I know she is not. I am not trying to apply modesty only to when you meet in person with a group of friends or family or a daily need. It can and should be applied to your social media. Nowadays, social media is crawling with very immodest photos. Their are many social media apps used. A few that I know of would be Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, & Twitter. On these pages you see young teenage girls looking like seventeen to nineteen year olds and showing a lot of skin. This is one of the reasons why I strongly believe that youngsters should not be on social media unless their parents have one hundred percent access to their passwords.
