People tend to reach success in a number of different ways. Looking at the past, success was often reached in ways that would be looked at as both good and bad. Andrew Carnegie was very successful but reached that success at the expense of his workers, which is why many would refer to him as a robber baron today. Andrew Carnegie placed the workers of his steel company in a harmful working environment. These workers were on the job for twelve long hours, seven days a week, in dangerous working conditions.
If you were to ask a few people how they measured success, most of the answers would vary. Some may state that is based on your monetary value or that it is measured by your happiness. Yet, these answers can be categorized by a broad definition: success is achieving the goal you set your mind to. Malcolm Gladwell, in his book Outliers, challenges the societal view of how success is ultimately obtained. The author states “...if you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires” to emphasize the importance of persistence and work ethic when looking for success (Gladwell 151).
Some of those who worked hard found success, such as Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller. Carnegie was an immigrant who worked at a textile factory and worked hard to build a company that produced steel. Rockefeller worked as a clerk and made his way on top by owning the oil industry. Both men worked lower class jobs and ended up being well renowned for the amount of work they had to do to come out on top. “Especially in a new country where many tasks are waiting, where resources are strained to the utmost all the time, the judgment, courage, and perseverance required to organize new enterprises(sic) and carry them to success are sometimes heroic”
In The Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell emphasizes that success is achieved by external forces in which certain individuals are granted particular opportunities and advantages that not everybody is given by destiny. What is the meaning of success? In general, success means to have a goal set in mind, have a plan to accomplish a goal, work hard and achieve it. Commonly, achieving success is a process that requires time, effort, and dedication in order to accomplish it. Success might have different meanings to everyone; therefore there is no right or wrong answer.

Everyone has his or her own interpretation or definition of what they think success is, but in this interpretation, there is always a common goal at the end. That goal is to have a happy and good outcome. Willy Lowman’s definition of success was skewed, and for this, he did not achieve a happy and good outcome like he may have planned.
The issue of Homelessness has turned out to be a standout amongst the most critical social and political issues of our opportunity. A homeless person is an individual without a lasting home who may live in the city; remain in a safe house, mission, single room inhabitants offices, relinquished building or vehicle; or in some other precarious or non-perpetual circumstances. The most essential policy issues contributing are housing, mental health, drug abuse, income, aging and long term care. Each and everyone has our own idea of how success looks like. But for me, success is something that you’ve worked so hard to get to that you now have pride to have or be. But success isn’t so easy to reach. There's going to be challenges and times where one thinks they won't succeed. Its when you’ve flourished to the point where you’re happy with the placement of your life.
In our world, people usually associate success with either money, money, or money. Success shouldn’t be about how much money we earn, how good our job is, or how famous we are.
