What is love? The definition of love is,”A profound tender, passionate affection for another person.” In an opinion of many, love is something that all living things have and need. In the novel Anthem by Ayn Rand, everyone has been changed and they do not know what is it like to love. But in Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, they do have love and families.
Love changes a person both physically and mentally. Impassioned lovers distort reality, change their priorities and daily habits to accommodate their significant other, experience personality
Love can be described as the feeling between two people that causes them to care about one another more than anything else. Its that warm, butterfly like feeling inside ones stomach, the thought that always races back and leads to a smile. There are millions of movies, books, stories, plays, pictures, and songs that revolve around the idea of love, what it feels like to be in love, the reasons to love and why love can hurt. A true display of how instense love can be takes place in the classic play Romeo and Juliet. In William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet he conveys that because love is overpowering it can take control over someone’s thoughts.
The drama, Romeo and Juliet, consistently displayed three different types of love. Friendship, romantic love, and unrequited love were shown throughout this drama. Each character’s relationship and dialogue showed us love can come in different forms, such as constructive and destructive. As Stephen King previously stated, “True love, like any other strong and addicting drug, is boring — once the tale of encounter and discovery is told, kisses quickly grow stale and caresses tiresome… except, of course, to those who share the kisses, who give and take the caresses while every sound and color of the world seems to deepen and brighten around them. As with any other strong drug, true first love is really only interesting to those who have become
Love Love definitely is a feeling that encompasses not only the mind and body of two people but it somehow creates a bond between them. In fact, romantic writing bordered heavily on love between two people, thus giving rise to the belief that love overrides all other emotions. ‘love’ has been in the fore front of the society over the ages. The idea of falling in and out of love is not exactly new, it had to face umpteen challenges, obstacles to raise its pretty head, and prompt generations to be its followers! But the irony is ‘love’ and it is misunderstood and misplaced.
With love being so important to many cultures and viewed so differently, it is important to understand the distinction between the different types of love. There can be love for another being and love for an object or idea. Both types of love can create a desire to act a certain way. People that love playing a sport may decide to pursue a professional career in that sport is similar to how a person that is in love with another person may decide to pursue that love interest. What the person does with that love is important, and affects the way people interpret love and its effects.
Love. Love is one beautiful way people use to identify one’s fondness. However, people do not always perceive one’s affection as “love.” There are different ways love can be expressed, yet individuals tend to portray their affection excessively unaware of the aggressive manners presented during the process. This superficial aspect causes people to misinterpret one’s fondness as loathing although the actions deep inside provide an insight into genuine love.
Man 'yōshū: Erotic vs Love Unlike the conceptions that characterize basic notions of love, erotic love details more on the sexual desire of the body rather than the endearment based on feeling. However this separation between the two, has not always been apparent. Often times in literature of the past where this very distinction between what is erotic versus what is love is frequently considered hard to differentiate due to the vagueness within the way writers wrote the text. When looking at one of Japan’s oldest collections of poetry, the Man 'yōshū (compiled sometime during the eighth century), the relationship between love and erotic love is represented within the feelings portrayed through the author of the poems. One way that love can be distinguished over erotic love is through this notion of longing and waiting for a lover that may never return.
