By all means, and with all sincerity, culture remains to become a topic quite ambiguous to me. Anything could be considered a fraction of our culture – traits, food, rituals, and even practical and moral consciousness. Defining one’s own culture is probably even made more difficult than defining the culture of other people’s, a practice similar to defining what love or the meaning of life is. For what it’s worth, culture remains an aspect of ourselves that continues to haunt us until today.
One may realize that a person is obligated and chained into a series of stereotypes concerning his or her own ethnicity, proving that culture is something tied and forced into us even without our own jurisdiction. Being American …show more content…

Nothing can parallel the treasures that are of our ownership. We should refrain from counting on others to recognize ourselves, and abstain from molding our society to that of Europe’s or America’s. The key to development, to success, and to the rise of our nation would be – in all sincerity – love and acceptance. We have to rekindle our sense of patriotism, or devotion to the country that is and will always be ours, and develop a sense of selflessness to pursue greater lengths for the beauty that is the Philippines. It is only the Filipinos that can help themselves, and we must remember that. We cannot seek a better tomorrow and call our country ‘fun’ through gritted teeth and false promises, but with wholehearted love and appreciation for the Motherland that would never deny us. We are the answer and the future is and will always be in our hands, the Filipino hands that were once blood-stained, abused, maltreated, discriminated, and mocked throughout the bittersweet fragments of our history. We are our own nation and we are the only ones who can fight for it, not other people, and certainly not other countries. For once the time comes when we have fully accepted, devoted, and loved the humble country that has breathed us life and has molded us into the beings are now, then we have every right to expect the prosperity we believe we deserve.
