Humans have the ability to be evil inside them ever since birth; and British Literature is a good analysis on how evil is presented in people’s lives and how people ‘become’ evil, such as how Grendel and Macbeth become evil in their respective stories. There are many theories on why people act evil, including theories from, Hannah Arendt, Elaine Pagal, and Thomas Hobbs. Most of the theories say generally the same thing. Evil is essentially a part of a human’s character and nature, and the evil inside of one can be triggered by a number of things, such as self interest and being influenced to do evil. All the British Literature that was read in this course has contained evil, as evil is an essential part to make a story.
Whether working with a co-worker, learning with a classmate or hanging out with a friend, the thought of any of them having the potential to be evil does not cross the mind. Everyday people are not typically evil beings, but if people are not evil beings then why do they commit actions like torture, killing and genocide? Could it be that the certain people committing the acts are just monsters deep inside, or could the actions be mere products of circumstance? In his article "The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror", Crispin Sartwell, a journalist and philosopher, advises his audience to take a look at the heinous acts people have committed throughout history as a way to show us how anyone could commit evil acts, including ourselves. Marianne Szegedy-Maszak,
Why people are evil? They are evil because of how their lifestyle was and how they were raised, this is a popular reason for their evilness. Ilse Koch was a sadist and a nymphomaniac. Augusto Pinochet was evil because he would beat people and tortured them because they didn’t believe that he should be the president. Ilse Koch and Augusto pinochet were evil because they would beat people.
It seems he was raised by competent parents. So what influenced his evil? He also stated that he is not sure what made him get thrown into prison, but he knows he did something bad. Perhaps he fell in with the wrong crowd of people and they influenced his misfit ways. Maybe The Misfit did not have any friends and that drove him into a wrong path he headed down.
The reality is that good and evil cannot be divided due to a difference of beliefs. This means that a person may see something as evil that another person see as good.
Not all people have the same definition of evil. Evil can be expressed in many ways. Whether that be describing a person or giving a place a scary setting. Most though, think of evil as a person rather than a place. Those true qualities of evil help show if a person is a human monster.
From the point of view of humanity, Zeus’s punishment of Prometheus is unjustified and comes from a desire to exert control rather than justice. In Hesiod’s Theogony, Prometheus is portrayed is a deceiver who likes to test Zeus with no apparent care for humankind. Prometheus is characterized as “devious” (Theogony lines 511 and 521), his actions are described using verb forms of “deceive” (lines 537 and 565), and his deed of giving Zeus the bad parts of the meal are labeled as a “trick” (lines 547, 550, 551, 560, and 562). Hesiod briefly mentions that Prometheus gave the good parts of the meal to the humans, but only as a supplement to the main point, which is that Prometheus wanted to sneakily give Zeus the bad parts of the meal.
One normally goes through many experiences which can lead them to do an action that may be considered evil. Doing evil and actually being labeled evil are two different things that can affect an individual's life
There are even those who can be both at the same time, they are good to their loved ones and evil towards their enemies. There are many different cases and it will never really come down to one explanation. People that are good can change due to events that happen in their lives. They are fighting with themselves on whether they want to do good or evil but in the end chose evil, “If Fernandez 2 someone’s evil, it can’t be blamed on inborn capacities. We all have a heart of conscience, a heart of reverence and a heart of right and wrong” (Mencius 80).
Evil is something that can be hidden within oneself and brought up depending on the situation. An example of when people are shown to be evil is in The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell. When the main character Rainsford becomes the very thing he did not want it to become because the evil ways of the island have changed his views for the worst. The shift in Rainsfords views is shown many time throughout the text but greatly when the narrator states “ Rainsford decided he had never slept in a better bed” (Connell 15). When the narrator says this it implies he is not phased over killing a man then sleeping in his bed.
Evil on the other hand it is seen as something associated with the devil. Serial killers take away and harm the innocent of our community .To see them as anything but evil will be nonsense. When we see interviews about serial killers ,we see how they had no remorse or feelings towards what they did. It confirms even more to us as a
Firstly, man is born evil because society shows him to be evil. An example of this is how parents must raise their child to be good. A parent never has to raise their child to do bad things. A young child might draw on the wall and believe that it is art, however the parent will stop the child and tell them that drawing on the wall is a bad thing to do.
I would like to start by identifying the unique environment that is Korea and the opportunities here at Camp Humphreys. We will be the best at what we do. I want us to influence the behaviors and attitudes through out our Squads and Teams. Motivation is key, the discipline that we are charged to bestow within our ranks can be resolved with our vast experience in the Army. Our ethics and values will further change the lives of the Soldiers that we train, and mentor.
Naturally everyone is born evil, it just takes someone to teach us how to be good. When people don 't know where to turn to, they turn against each other. This is demonstrated every time a civilization collapses, people result to violence. The reason we do not commit crime, is because of the law, accompanied with the fear of the punishment. "I was like a wild beast that had broken the toils; destroying the objects that obstructed me and ranging through the wood with a stag-like swiftness.
Evil is unique to each individual, how people were raised and what they were exposed to will alter their definition of evil. However, people generally agree that homicide, rape, torture, genocide, and terrorism are all evil. Causing agony or suffering is considered evil. Manipulating the weak or manipulating children, in any way, is considered evil. Despite our societal understanding that these acts are evil and that evil is bad, we witness evil nearly every day.
