What is “high art” and what does mean?This question left me pondering on the word I began to think what I thought “High art” was.I couldn't think of anything that I could genuinely say was high art.My taste of the arts is pretty linear I like what I like and I don’t like what I don’t like. The beliefs that I held in art was that all art was equal you could say “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” and I would agree with you 100%.So instead of wrecking my my mind about what's good and what's not i began to search the definition of “High Art”. The definition of High art is “Art which deals with lofty and dignified subjects and is characterized by an elevated style avoiding all meretricious display” . I very notable time like this was the renaissance of the 14th century.The renaissance took place in europe with a rediscovery greek philosophy and was a prominent theme in the art of the time.People who were well known for their contribution to the arts were named “Renaissance men “ some very well known renaissance men are Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo .These two mens names have are mentioned when people talk about high art .During this time leonard made some of the most famous paintings of all time like the “Last Supper” and the “Mona Lisa”.Around the same time Michelangelo was painting the Sistine Chapel
