Definition Essay: What Are The Different Types Of Happiness?

Throughout life there will be many different things that cause happiness, a state of being happy. People experience life in different ways, therefore, causes and definitions of happiness will be exceptionally different. For the sake of argument, let’s solely focus on the definition as “feeling or showing pleasure”. As I see it, there are six different types of happiness. Some people may experience all of these, while others may experience only a few.
The first type of happiness is happiness from nature. This is happiness that can be achieved from experiencing all the different things and places within God’s wonderful creation. Everyone wants approval from peers, to be well-liked, or to be popular. Social happiness occurs when these things are all in sync. Someone who is socially happy is always surrounded by friends and is usually the most popular person around. We all know someone like this from high school. I firmly believe that this is not a good measure of true happiness, although many other people would say otherwise.
Believe it or not there is also vocational happiness related to things at work. Someone who has accomplished many things and loves what they do is an example of someone who is vocationally happy. I feel as if vocational happiness goes hand-in-hand with intellectual happiness, which is the pleasure that comes with mastering a subject or solving a problem. You need intellect to be good at the job, right? Work also comes with many different problems needing to be solved.
Physical happiness is an actual feeling. Many people feel this type of happiness if they are obsessed with going to the gym and eating healthy. People who experience this happiness eat healthy constantly, always worry about staying fit, go to the gym as often as possible and stay for hours on end, and may also have a self-image problem. For a few years, my brother experienced this type of happiness. He felt as if he wasn’t “big enough” in regards to his muscles, so he worked out for four or more hours at a time and was always eating
