One may question the creation of a meme on a rare occasion, wanting to assemble one and even become internet famous one day for said meme. Well, a loose definition of this word would be, “ Memes are stories, songs, habits, skills, inventions and ways of doing things that we copy from person to person by imitation. Human nature can be explained by evolutionary theory, but only when we consider evolving memes as well as genes.”Made by Susan Blackmore. So given this definition, memes may not what you think they are. They have been formed into a gag across the internet. For example; The 3D digital dancing baby. It depicts a toddler dancing in a humorous way for a matter of seconds. There are other memes that are not as simple and fun, though. If one were to go on Instagram and look hard enough there are videos and pictures that show inappropriate and disturbing sights. Some have a sadistic twist to them while others have a satire mood to it. Some mentioning suicide and even videos of death created into a joke with different background music or distortion of the video or picture. These “impure” memes have caused an uproar with parents finding these on their children's phones, computers, and other devices. Adults do not fully understand the concept of a meme and why some of them are as tasteless as they seem to be. While all of this is happening, adults between the ages of 35-50 tend to share and have their own form of meme culture compared to generation Z, which are the ages of 20 and younger. Their memes include mild humor about their children, alcohol jokes, and how they might feel at that precise moment. One prominent meme motif would be Minions.This is most commonly referred to as “mom minion memes.” Memes such as these can be classified as “chaotic neutral” because even though adults may see them as funny and relatable, teens find it extremely flat and distasteful.
