Art is not a solid specific topic, on the contrary it is multiplex and undefinable. There is no precise justification when it comes to art. Art is what one interprets and composed of two subdivisions: meaningful and non-meaningful art. It is up to the person to identify if a painting or object has meaning, or if it is just something pleasant and enjoyable that one likes to contemplate. Meaningful art is what art critics considers to be art, the complex pieces that people can excrete emotions from, not saying that all painting hung in art institutes is art. The artist’s wild untamed thoughts are drawn, painted, sprayed, or splatted right onto the paper revealing its creators emotions. Not only, does the reader penetrate the artist’s affectivity, but interprets the piece individually. Our mind has pathways and roots to things we have seen, emotions felt, and situations we have experienced, and all these diverse factors differentiate us from each other. Therefore, as unique individuals one can explicate things similarly, but never the same. Meaningful art is powerful, to the extent of how power full powerful one considers it. Let’s take the master piece of the Mona Lisa for example. This is a very complex piece of art originating from Leonardo Da Vinci, meaningful to millions of art fanatics and critics. What makes this sophisticated piece interesting is the many never ending conclusions drawn from its mysterious appearance. Now, is this artwork considered as art, for example for a common Hispanic, Asian, or Indian civilian? Most likely not. A Hispanic civilian might consider, “Detroit Industry,” by Diego Rivera as art. Why? Because it is powerful and influential to them. Mr. Rivera portrayed the live and struggles of their ancestors, sending an impacting message to their community.
