it's how how the holocaust was back thing and how the nazi took over the jews. In the book night, dehumanization is seen by public executions starving the prisoners, and separating the families. My first example is separation of family. In the book nights separation of family was like the little boy was getting separated from his family like his mother and sister. His mother and his sister Tzipora.
Demoralization: to cause (someone) to lose confidence or hope; dispirit. Being physically degraded is much different than mental degradation; physical abasement includes loss of muscle, fat, and other bodily necessities. Mental ignominy is getting stripped of your dignity, self-worth, and confidence. Throughout Night, dehumanization consistently took place as the tyrant Nazis oppressed the Jewish citizens. The Nazis targeted the Jews' humanity, and slowly dissolved their feeling of being human. The feeling of dehumanization was very common between the jews. They were constantly being treated as in they were animals. The author and narrator Elie Wiesel, personally experienced being treated like an animal
The first instance of dehumanization for slave owners he gives to the readers is the separation of children from their mothers at a very young age. He said that, before the child has reached its twelfth month, its mother is taken away from it. Their mothers will be hired out on some farms for a considerable long time, and those little kids are placed under
The public beatings, the hanging of prisoners and making others walk past them, as well as the selection process are all examples of dehumanization. When Eliezer has to run at full speed to avoid being noticed during one of the selection processes, it is a reminder as to how large a role dehumanization
Elie Wiesel shows many instances of dehumanization through the abuse of all Jews and the loss of his own name. Through doing so, he tries to prevent any similar event. Many Jews suffered from dehumanization during this terrifying event. Elie was very affected by these acts of dehumanization, such as when he and other Jews were shaved completely. It made Elie and the rest feel naked and it played a role in destroying his faith.
In the book, Night, Dehumanization majorly affects the Jews. Dehumanization is the process by which the Nazis gradually reduced the Jews to little more than things. It makes the Jews want to give up. There are many examples of dehumanization, including beating, selection, and robbery. Eliezer was whipped in front of everyone during roll call, “…I shall therefore try to make him understand clearly once and for all…I no longer felt anything except the lashes of the whip.
The dehumanization of immigrants have gotten worse over the years and have been claimed with many flaws, but most have not been close to what really happens with immigrants. In the book Night, The Jewish nation was dehumanized and not treated with equal human rights just for coming from a different culture. In the current world, many problems have happened with immigrants also being dehumanized and not treated with the same human rights as everyone else. If an immigrant currently lives in the U.S. they don 't get the rights as anyone else. In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, the Jewish nation were not allowed to do many things for being Jewish even if they had many common things with the German nation.
In which millions of Jews were innocently killed and persecuted because of their religion. As a student who is familiar with the years of the holocaust that will forever live in infamy, Wiesel’s memoir has undoubtedly changed my perspective. Throughout the text, I have been emotionally touched by the topics of dehumanization, the young life of Elie Wiesel, and gained a better understanding of the Holocaust. With how dehumanization was portrayed through words, pondering my mind the most.
Collins dictionary defines dehumanization as the deprivation of human qualities such as kindness generosity and independence. (Collins, 2016) In the camp prisoners experience dehumanization on a day to basis, despite that there were numerous prisoners including Frankl became numb to the mistreatments they experienced. In addition prisoners were given numbers as their name that was often tattooed on their skin as a way for prison guards to call them out mostly for punishment. (Frankl, pp.4) Also prisoners were forced to give up all their documents and any personal possessions. As each prisoner had deal with such mistreatment, they had to be very strong to keep themselves alive.
Dehumanization Causing Events in Night Over the course of Eliezer’s holocaust experience in the novel Night, the Jews are gradually reduced to little more that “things” which were a nuisance to Nazis. This process was called dehumanization. Three examples of events that occurred which contributed to the dehumanization of Eliezer, his father, and his fellow Jews are: people were divided both mentally and physically, those who could not work or who showed weakness were killed, and public executions were held.
Dehumanization is the process of depriving a person or group of positive human qualities, according to the dictionary. Throughout Night it shows a lot of dehumanization examples. It would take hours to name all of them. Some of the ways dehumanization was showed in Night was all of the abuse, having no identity except for a number, and the hunger they felt because they would only get one meal per day.
For starters, when Eliezer and the other prisoners got to Auschwitz they were forced to get a tattoo of numbers, the only name the Nazi’s will call him. Miserably the Jews filed past a table, “I became A-7713. From then on, I had no other name” (Wiesel 42). This shows the dehumanization of Eliezer because now he is referred to as a number rather than a human being with a name. Another example of dehumanization occurs in the beginning when they were crammed into cattle cars.
