The idea of working in the medical field has always had a special place in my heart and has been in the back of my mind since I could remember. Helping others has always been a passion of mine as I look up to my family heritage in the medical field. Over the years, as I have matured, and narrowed my focus down to becoming a labor and delivery nurse where I get to help the mom and the baby. My biggest preference is working with kids and not the adults, but labor and delivery gives me the option to do both. I have grown up in a big family, me being the second oldest of eight kids, so I have spent a lot of time with babies over the years. What drew me to the labor and delivery unit is all the action. Shadowing a real doctor will help me gain real world experiences before I even enroll in college. Going to a university and getting my bachelors of science in nursing degree in order for me to work in the labor and delivery unit is a huge goal of mine that I will achieve. As of right now, I'm totally unsure of where exactly I want to go to college but looking at each choice’s nursing program to find the best fit. For sure, it's going to be a lot of work but growing up my parents taught me and I instilled determination into anything I wanted to accomplish. It may have academics, sports, or a simple job but never once would I think about quitting. Earlier I said that I have been dreaming of taking this course since my freshman year and I didnt apply last year because I was waiting for the right opportunity. Senior year is the year that I am applying for clinicals so that I can devote myself, time, and energy into all this class has to offer without the weight of super intense classes. Procrastination will not be in my vocabulary when I end up taking this course because clinicals need my full attention and I am willing to give it to them. I do participate in the athletic soccer program at Bridgeland Highschool, and another reason I haven't taken clinicals yet is because of my sport and the blocking period. Senior year comes with another advantage as it is periods fourth and fifth this year which gives me more time to focus on the class with my athletic period being at the end of the day. Going into nursing or any part of the medical field, time management is a vital skill that I need to have. One of my goals is to better my time management so that I can learn all that this class has to offer
