Abstract Delta Airlines is one of the leading airlines in the world. They have been able to corner the market because of the mergers and acquisitions they have completed. Their last acquisition was with Northwest Airlines. The acquisition of Northwest has enabled Delta Airlines to fly in countries they previously didn’t. Financially Delta has acquired a large amount of long tem debt due to their purchase of Northwest Airlines, but over time they will be able to pay that debt off through advancements in technology that enables their planes to fly more efficiently. Annually Delta flies one hundred and sixty five million passengers internationally and domestically. They are the only airline that offers their customers frequent fliers point that do not expire through their frequent flier program known as SkyMiles (Delta Airlines). Delta has been able to demands higher prices for their airline tickets because they provide their passengers with better service than other airlines do. Passengers of Delta Airlines can expect to receive top quality customer service. Delta offers their passengers seating arrangements to ensure their flight is comfortable for them. Should a passenger not fit in their seat comfortably with the armrest down the flight attendant will try and find them a seat that has an open one next to it. Their most recent acquisition Northwest Airlines has enabled them to reach areas in the world they did not have access to previously. In efforts to build their brand and gain loyal customers Delta has begun to focus their attention on improving their customer service. Delta has purchased new airplanes to join their expanding fleet in order to meet the increase in customer volume. Currently they have over five thousand flights take off daily. They current target market is frequent business class passengers along with upper to middle class travelers. Unlike Deltas competitors United Continental, Southwest and American airlines their FlyMiles do not expire. They have leverage over the markets because they have positioned themselves so they can capitalize on the growing US regional airline industry. Mission Delta would like to decrease their debt and by increasing there profit. To increase their profits Delta needs to ensure their customer’s are satisfied with their services. Currently Delta’s long-term debt is extremely high because of the purchase of Northwest, but through increasing profits and passengers they have been able to earn a
