It is more difficult to accept the fact that the majority of Christians do not believe in the devil than it is to believe in an actual devil. The Bible clearly states that there is a devil, a real, living being called the devil. “Then the devil took him (Jesus) to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.” Matthew 4:5 (NIV). How can a Christian professing to believe in God, in the Word of God, not believe that the devil exists? How can a Christian not believe in demons when all throughout the gospels (the books of Matthew through John) there are references to demons?
