Ayiti is a Caribbean country located on the western one-third of the island of Hispaniola. Haiti's land is mostly rough and mountainous. The capital of Haiti is Port-au-Prince. Ayiti is divided in 10 departments. The Haitian government has 3 Branches of government. Ayiti have two official languages Creole and French . The Official religion is Roman Catholic.Haiti's national Bird is the Hispaniolan trogon, national flower is the hibiscus and the national colors are blue, red, which makes up the Haitian flag with “two equal horizontal bands of blue top and red Bottom with a centered white rectangle bearing the coat of arms, which contains a palm tree flanked by flags and two cannons above a scroll bearing the motto L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE” …show more content…

In the country of Haiti there are two groups of people the haves and the have not's. The need of the élite and the need of the masses are two completely different needs. In order for the elites who are running the country to meet their need, they allow the international country, mainly the US to exploit Haiti, in order for them to fulfil their own interest. The dependency theory has manifested itself in Haiti in four different ways, "foreign ownership of the Key resource, the mode of operation of multinational corporations, the parlous state of domestic agriculture, the austere lending policies of The IMF World Bank group" (pg. 51 Dependency and socialism in the modern Caribbean). and yet the Royal Caribbean cruise is allowed to take that away from the country. the name Haiti, have a lot of negative connotation, associated to it, with the constant instability of the nation, I understand why they royal Caribbean cruise would not want to make it obvious to their customers that Labadie is located in Haiti, but the fact that the Haitian government allow them to switch the country's current name to the name that was formerly given to the country by Christopher Columbus (Hispaniola) shows how the Government truly feel like they need the royal Caribbean to attract tourist to the country fueling the dependency theory at work in haiti. If it wasn't for greed, and the help of the international community the Haitian Government would be able to have a flourishing tourism, they definitely have the resources to do so. The Government allows investors to exploit the country, because of what they personally benefit from the international
