Many deal with some sort of problem throughout their life.The play Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, shows the life and struggles of Hamlet, who deals with depression after finding out his father had been killed. The book Catcher in the Rye, written by JD Salinger, is a first person story told by the main character, Holden, who drops out of school and is now roaming around New York City looking for someone to accompany him as he struggles to find hope.For Hamlet and Holden, their problem was depression and throughout both novels readers see how they deal with it. Both Hamlet and Catcher in the Rye deal with depression but they do so in different ways. Although these two characters go through the same things , they deal with them differently. Throughout the story we see Hamlet portray some of these symptoms with his thoughts, actions, and how he handles different situations.
