Derrick Rose Derrick Rose is an American Basketball player that was born in Chicago, Illinois and is one of the greatest athletes that has come out of Illinois. On October 4th 1988, Derrick Rose was born in Chicago, Illinois. Rose grew up in a rough neighborhood outside Chicago, and it was very tough for him to not be a bad kid. While Rose had three older brothers, Reggie, Dwayne, and Allan, his mother Brenda was the biggest part for him not to get in trouble growing up. Again, Rose was traded back to the Knicks for a couple of seasons. Rose had many great accomplishments while playing for seven teams. His accolades consisted of him being a three-time NBA All-Star, 2010 All-NBA, Rookie of the Year, All-Rookie First Team, and of course a league MVP. One of the best achievements you can have as an athlete is longevity in the sport, and Rose has 14 years of playing professional basketball.
