EVERY COMMUNITY HAS DIFFERENT CULTURAL GROUPS. THESE CAN BE EXEMPLIFIED BY RACE, RELIGION AND AGE JUST TO NAME A FEW. DESCRIBE THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH YOU LIVE.

Within society today people’s lives are shaped by their actions and experiences. However, one key element that also influences the shaping of one’s character is ones community. A community is not just ones surroundings but it also entails the values and ideas held by the inhabitants. Living in a community shapes part of one’s character because we reside in it and we share things like, race, religion, culture or ethnicity. They all have different aspects of health needs based on their background. For instance, Hispanics views on health care stem more from a traditional sense and contribute to some of the beliefs that get inherited from previous generations. In Health Law & Medical Ethics James Allen states that Hispanics have a unique way of looking at health and diseases which can affect how they receive treatment because they view diseases as being hot or cold (Allen, 2013, P.187). Hispanics believe that there should be a balance within the body and having natural forces applied to the body when one is sick like a hot treatment when one has a cold disease plays a role in achieving that balance. However, because they have this viewpoint it can sometimes contribute to them having a negative perception about following a healthcare physician’s advice in regards to treatment. While on the other hand Jewish health care needs vary because they live by a complex set of rules. Some Jewish patients have concerns in regards to modesty when they receive treatment by someone of the opposite sex. Moreover, Jewish people have rules on religious holidays and medical procedures are one that should not be performed unless its life or death. Furthermore, when it comes to making medical decisions patients or family members will request a rabbi so they can help with how to deal with the moral propriety of the
