Thesis: In the book The Outsiders, Ponyboy Curtis tells the whole story, however, if the novel was told by several characters such as, Soda, Dally, or Johnny, the book would have been told in a much more desirable manner. Lastly, Johnny was with Ponyboy throughout various parts of the book, which would allow us to hear the complete adventure from a whole nother standpoint. The first example of this was seen when Pony and Johnny had just ran away to the local park.
1. Unlike Janie’s previous husbands, Tea Cake treats Janie with compassion and respect. In addition, he loves Janie for her personality instead of her looks and her role as a woman (housewife). 2. The speech characteristic that Tea Cake encourages Janie with is truth.
S. E. Hinton 's novel The Outsiders, Hilton includes two characters that only care for eachother. They have many similarities, they both have abusive parents and they both place little value on their lives. However they have many differences. Dally gets in trouble a lot with the fuzz, johnny on the other hand is shy, always looks like something is bothering him. Johnny ends up dying but he dies a hero, Dally dies a hoodlum, he attempts to pull a unloaded gun on the fuzz but dies as soon as he does it.
Dally not only died a hero to Johnny, he died a hero to many others as well. Dally showed his courage when he put his life at risk to help Johnny and Ponyboy run away from the crime they committed, and he also saved Johnny and Ponyboy from the fire inside of the church. Dally might have been cowardly in some parts of The Outsiders ,but his heroic acts to Ponyboy, Johnny, and other members of the gang show that he died a hero. First of all, Dally died a hero because he helped Ponyboy and Johnny hide from the crime that they committed even though he took a risk in doing so. Dally gave information to two wanted criminals on where to hide, and the police were not as nice to Greasers as they were to Socs.
Dally is part of the gang in the the east side of greasers. He had found Johnny living with awful parents that always beat him up with no care. Dally had gave and showed him love. Johnny is also in the gang and he is like the youngest pet out of all of them. Nobody in the gang can’t live without him especially Dally, he overprotects Johnny.
Johnny Cade was least and last. If you can picture a little dark puppy that has been kicked too many times and lost in a crowd of strangers, you’ll have Johnny” (11). That was who he was, until he stood up for Cherry Valance. In chapter 2, Ponyboy, Dally, and Johnny went to the movies. Dally harassed the two girls sitting in front of them until Johnny insists that Dally stops: “‘Leave her alone Dally’ ‘Huh?’
Should we blame Johnny and Dally’s death on society, or their own choices? In the context of "The Outsiders", society refers to the social and cultural norms, expectations, and values of the community that influence the behavior of the characters. We are used to portraying society as being flawed and unfair, and though that is in part true, we cannot assume it is always negative. Have we forgotten that the loyalty and friendship of the gang and Ponyboy saving those kids is also considered as ‘society’? While it's true that societal factors such as gang violence, class division, and lack of parental support undoubtedly played a role in shaping their behavior, it's important to understand that they had power in their decisions and ultimately were in control over their own actions.
Ponyboy lived with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop after his parents were killed in a car accident. Ponyboy had some friends in the gang: Steve, Two-Bit, Dally but his best friend was a boy named Johnny who was considered the gang`s mascot. Ponyboy was a boy who always wanted to be tough but an accident that happened in the story might make him change of mind on what he wanted to be. He also finds a way of how to finish the gang that was taking place from many tima.
Ponyboy, a greaser, was one of the young boys that was matured throughout the book because of his hardships. Ponyboy 's relationship with his older brothers, Darry and Sodapop, is a key factor in how Ponyboy matured throughout the book. An example of Ponyboy almost maturing from the influence of Darry and Sodapop, is when their parents were killed in a car crash. When their Parents died it caused them to get closer and look out for eachother more (#3).
Ponyboy’s parents died in a car crash leaving his oldest brother Darrel also known as Darry to take care of his two younger brothers. The middle brother Sodapop is always trying to keep Darry and Ponyboy from fighting. Darry has become more of a parent figure in in Ponyboys life causing a lot of tension between the two. Some of the other main characters are Johnny, Two-Bit, Dallas, and Steve. They are all Greasres and are coincided a gang but just think of each other as friends.
In the book, Outsiders, I noticed the most character development in Ponyboy Curtis. Although he didn’t realize many things until the end of the book, I think once everything registered within himself, he took everything that had happened to him in the past couple weeks as a lesson. One thing that Ponyboy finally grasped was that his oldest brother Darry actually cared for him. At first Ponyboy had always thought that Darry didn’t like him and that Darry would rather him be gone. However, after his friends repeatedly reassured Ponyboy that his older brother had been hard on him because he really loved and cared about him, Ponyboy slowly started to realize that, even though the two still fought a bit.
Darry has an extremely serious personality and loves Ponyboy with tough love. All three show love in different ways, but they still do love. Love is shown throughout all of the book The Outsiders in various ways, even though there is lots of violence. Dally and Johnny had a very close bond. They were very close all the time and really admired each other.
All of Pony’s greaser gang rescues him and chases the Socs away. Pony is okay, but shaken up. Later in the novel, Pony, Johnny, and Dally go to the Nightly double and meet Cherry Valance and Marcia. It, for the most part, goes well.
These 3 people are people I consider that are very important to the book. Ponyboy is one of the people in the book that deserves to be or is a hero. Ponyboy is very courageous and helps others. One of the quotation that can support that he’s a hero is when he realized the children are in the burning church he was not afraid at all and said, “I’ll get them, don’t worry!” (p. 91)
The character Johnny grows in major ways throughout The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Johnny was a greaser, His best friend was Ponyboy, the main character. Johnny was a dynamic character, he contributed a lot to the main theme. Johnny had bad parents and committed murder. Soon after his bad acts, he became a hero.
