Historical Essay #2: James Madison and Patrick Henry Ashleyann Mabatid Azusa Pacific University College James Madison and Patrick Henry In this essay, I will be discussing James Madison and Patrick Henry. James Madison wrote the first drafts of the U.S. Constitution, co-wrote the Federalist Papers and sponsored the Bill of Rights. He helped with the Democrat-Republican Party with President Thomas Jefferson.
Patrick Henry was born in Hanover County, Virginia on May 29, 1736 (Biography.com). His father was a Scotland immigrant, and his mother from the line a Virginia gentry ( Biography.com). His father served in the colony as a Justice of The Peace (“Henry, Patrick”). At age 15, he ran a store for his father to fail to succeed (“Henry,Patrick”). As a child, he loved long walks in the forest by himself and he was a child in love with music, he learned to play the fiddle and the flute.

In his historical plays Henry IV Part 1 and Henry V, Shakespeare investigates the themes of identity and what makes a good king. In exploring these themes, Shakespeare compares the characters Hotspur and Hal. In addition to both Hotspur and Hal being called “Henry” and “Harry,” Shakespeare directs readers to compare the two by naming both of their wives Kate, only one of which is historically accurate. Hotspur and Hal’s interactions with their wives characterize Hotspur as a fully-realized man unfit to be king and Hal as a good king without an internal self. Shakespeare uses these characters to argue that having an internal identity and being a good king may be incompatible.
Red Hair, No Soul? Some people might say that there's no way to tell if a child will grow up into evil, while other people know ginger. Henry the 8th is depicted as a cruel and rude king and ginger. The most famous clown in the world ‘It’ is shown with bright red hair. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines ginger as chiefly British, sometimes offensive : a person with red hair.
Relationships between authority figures and their lesser subjects can be fraught with the potential of harm. Thomas was highly respected by King Henry VIII. The King liked how Thomas was an honest man and someone whom he could trust to tell him the pure truth. Thomas’s opinions on important matters of state were vastly valued. Thomas is torn between pleasing the King by following his orders supporting him and doing what his conscience believes to be right.
1) In the 12th century, in 1170, Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Beckett, was violently murdered in the Canterbury Cathedral in England. After the death of Archbishop Theobold, King Henry promoted his close friend, Beckett to the vacant seat, in an attempt to increase his influence over the church. However, Beckett embraced his role to such a degree that he grew defiant against the king, and instead increasingly loyal to the church. In 1170, 4 of King Henry’s knight’s Reginald Fitzurse, Hugh de Morville, William de Tracy, and Richard le Breton, killed Beckett in the Canterbury Cathedral against the permission and the knowledge of the King.
O for a muse of fire that would light up such a dark and passionate adaptation of Shakespeare’s Henry V that could defy every single expectation of its audience! Kenneth Branagh has done it again. It’s hard to believe that this 1989 film was Branagh first experience in directing. The film has a smooth tone that flows well and embodies Branagh’s directorial concept of showing all the implications that war can have. In many ways, Branagh seems to take inspiration from Laurence Olivier’s 1949 version, but he makes his own twits to the text and, instead of having a play within a play, the audience hears this epic story from an omnipresent presence, the chorus, which guides us through the events as if we were experience a dream.

William Shakespeare is a famous composer who is famous for composing plays, whereby his representations talk about issues of his time such as politics. Why did he do this?
As Richard the Third succumbs to death by the hand of Richmond, the old Queen Margaret and her mirror once again appear in a ghostlike fashion. Richard is forced to look at his reflection one last time. Although it seems like it, this is not Margaret’s last appearance. In the final scene of The Hollow Crown, the newly crowned Henry the Seventh gives an inspiring speech to his kingdom; however, his words of peace and togetherness are ultimately overshadowed by Queen Margaret.

Henry presided over the beginnings of the English Renaissance and the English Reformation. Henry VIII was the second son of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Henry’s personality included a lot of intelligence, learning,and curiosity which impressed the ambassadors that were in his court.
A pivotal part of The Secret History’s plot would be when Henry reveals to Richard about the bacchanal and explains what happened that led up to the murder of the farmer. The simple story is that Henry, Charles, Camilla, and Francis took drugs, rehearsed ancient rituals, and then in a drug induced frenzy killed a man. The plot is very different though, with first revealing that the group had killed someone. Richard asks, “You killed somebody...didn’t you?” In the story this is the end, but this only starts a major part of the plot.

He was a vile and heartless man who beheaded over 72,000 people in his 38 year reign and called for public celebration when his first wife, Catherine of Aragorn died o the 7th if January,1536. King Henry VIII was born on the 28th of June,1491 in Greenwich Palace.
Honor in Shakespeare’s Play Henry IV, Act One (The View of Honor in the Eyes of Falstaff and Hotspur in Shakespeare’s Play Henry IV, Act One) In Shakespeare’s play, Henry IV, Part One, two characters define what honor is to them. Hotspur and Falstaff are two different characters completely, one is a son of a nobleman and the other is a thief. Hotspur is son to Earl of Northumberland, making him the heir as well, the nephew of Earl of Worcester, and a good warrior too. The real name of Hotspur is Harry Percy, a member of the Percy family, which helped King Henry IV gain his power.
